Mobile Application Proposal

Background

Yelp is a multinational corporation headquartered in San Francisco, California. It develops and markets the Yelp mobile app as well as the online reservation service SeatMe and online food-delivery service Eat24. As of 2016, Yelp.com has 135 million monthly visitors.

Situation

There is room for Yelp to expand into the dating app industry. There are several popular mobile dating apps such as Tinder, Hot Or Not, OkCupid, etc. Yelp wants to have its own unique dating app that is popular for people to use.

Objective

Yelp wants to produce and develop a new mobile app which allows users to browse the patrons currently visiting a nightlife venue. When a user browses a venue, they will be able to see what other app users are currently patroning the venue. The app will allow users to contact other users as well as offer to purchase them drinks from the venue via the app.

Creative Considerations

The app will be called “Grasshopper.” There is a cocktail drink called “grasshopper,” which shall be a drink option for users to purchase other users. Because a grasshopper is a green drink the app shall have a green color scheme.

Target Audience

The target audience is 21-49 year-olds. People who like to go out, explore new places and meet people.
